The Montague Balloon Fair, held September 19-21, 2008, attracts ballooning enthusiasts from all over the country, with the balloons going up in mass every morning, parades and other assorted activities.

Yreka Western Railroad takes riders to the old railroad town of Montague to witness the launching of 35 to 40 hot air balloons as part of the annual Balloon Fair.

If the winds cooperate, the balloons will fly out to the train and descend for great viewing and pictures. Guests are welcome to de-board the train at the fair site and wait for the return of the 11 A.M. train at 1 P.M..

Bring your warm attire as this event starts out chilly!
